The Chairman, Instructors & Members of the BUTF wish to extend heartfelt congratulations to Mr. T. Wolf & Miss T. Y. Au on their promotion to 7th Dan (ITF Masters Degree), on 1st January 1999.
Master Wolf started his Taekwon-do career in 1973 following a successful career in boxing. Progressing from school instructor to National Coach in the UKTA, he was the motivating force behind team gold successes in both the 1984 fourth ITF world championships and the 1985 ITF european championships, along with numerous individual medal successes. As the most successful instructor in the BUTF, one of his schools, Thanet, succeeded in winning an incredible 9 out 24 Gold medals at the 1995 British Taekwon-do Council’s Team Championships bringing the total BUTF haul of Gold medals to 15.He has been, since it’s inception and still is to date the Vice-chairman of the BUTF.
Master Au commenced her Taekwon-do training in 1974 in Malaysia. An active career in competition saw her dominate the UKTA’s ladies division from 1977 to 1987 as undefeated champion, during which time she performed in competition the first ever 360ยบ Spinning Back Piercing Kick on 3 ‘break-up’ boards, by anyone in this country. Her progression as a competitor saw her capture the titles of European Champion in 1979 at Crystal Palace and 1985 in Budapest, with the culmination of Gold in the 1984 ITF World Championships in both Team & Individual events. She is acknowledged in all taekwon-do circles as one of the foremost female exponents of the art in the world Transiting from extraordinary competitor to successful instructor, she teaches schools in the BUTF besides being its Secretary General since its inception.
The Federation unequivocally salute the achievements, besides acknowledging the dedication and commitment of these two exceptional individuals to Taekwon-do & the BUTF. Our warmest wishes go with them together with the supplication that their efforts to promote Taekwon-do while further enhancing the BUTF’s standing in the Martial Arts world, continue well into the next millenium.
