Mr. Liu commenced his training in the late
70’s in Hillingdon TKD school
which was under the Instructor of the then Mr. Choy III Dan, our
Chairman. There was a short interlude of four years following the
attainment of Green belt prior to his return to complete his mission to the
ranks of Black Belt in the 80’s.
His induction into the world of Instruction and schools, which was remarkable considering that he was enjoying a successful career in competition, came when he seized the opportunity of accepting the challenge of taking on a school that had been left without an Instructor. Since that momentous decision, taken 10 years ago, Bracknell TKD school has suffered a resurgence and is currently going from strength to strength with a student membership of quality and depth. Mr. Liu went on, buoyed by his success with Bracknell to open up Addlestone TKD six years later and it, like Bracknell became one of the pillars of the BUTF with one of it’s students, Arran Gregory recently returning as a medalist after
competing in the ITF Junior World Championships in Argentina. His continued involvement saw him re open Staines Taekwon-Do School in 2004 following the exodus of its then Instructor due to a severe back injury.
As frequently acknowledged, the legacy of a true martial artist is not, as expects, from competition accolades, though they be a yardstick of the persons ability; it is from the students produced that will remain as an everlasting testimony to his or her dedication.
