Mr. Puma commenced his training in 1986 under the Instruction of Mr. Ray Gayle then with the T.A.G.B. in Bath. He obtained his Black Belt in 1991 having been graded by Master He Il Cho of the U.S.
His career took a turn of events when, following an enforced decision to part company with his former Instructor he approached Master Choy and became a member of the BUTF. On qualifying as an Instructor of the Federation in 1992 Mr. Puma proceeded to open up a Dojang which became known in the BUTF as Bath Taekwon-Do School. The premises he used were the only purpose built Taekwon-Do gymnasium in the Federation and host to various events in years to come. Students from Bath Taekwon-Do School featured on many anoccasion among the honours achieved at BUTF and outside

Instructor Mr. Puma himself continued to actively
participate in BUTF
events which he revelled in.
In 1993 grading under the now renowned stringent requirements of a BUTF grading exam and in the company of members far younger than him, he held his own, and has done so ever since, he commenced his ascent in the ranks culminating in today’s award of the rank of BUTF 5th Dan.
His achievements, as an Instructor, thereby leaving a greater legacy to the art than any physical deed, is the nurturing of 24 of his many students to the quality rank of BUTF Black Belt. A no mean feat considering that there are many so called ‘Masters and Grand Masters’ of the art around (including Heads of International Organisations) who are unable to boast of having produced any Black Belts of their own i.e. starting from White Belt 10th Kup.
Why? Simply because they’ve been incapable of doing so!!
Continuing the human ‘enigma’ syndrome, he combines the successful running of his school with Family life; two children and in recent years, grandchildren, together with Business; the running of until just recently, two catering outlets, one a bespoke Italian Restaurant.
