Grandmaster Raymond M. K. Choy IX "MASTER OF MASTERS"

Testimonial by Mr. Davion Cheng III 'Sam' Dan B.U.T.F.

Master Choy a teacher, a mentor, a chairman. A man many have and will always respect. I have been with the BUTF most my life, and when I first met him I was only 9 years old, I was extremely nervous and scared, but he tried to put me with ease asking why I wanted to start Taekwon-do and helping me explaining the answer of following a tradition with my father and my uncle having trained under him before.

My dad always told me when he trained under Master Choy 35 years ago, when as plain Mr. Choy, he was the instructor of Camden TKD School, although not a chairman of the BUTF then and a lower grade of black belt with the UKTA he would put his full effort and commitment at training. 'It seems not much has changed in that aspect.' Outside of training he would be a great friend to my dad, but once they are in the training hall, Master Choy would be looking to get the best out of people and not to favour anyone.

From what I see his principles on training has not changed in 35 years, even now trying to get the best out of everyone in the whole federation. By still being the chief examiner for students from 4th Kup and above, it has made the federation closer and also having a definite standard rather than just students passing up the grades without others to compare with. Having competed successfully in different championship I can definitely say our federation has students that work to their full potential due to the upbringing of the BUTF; the ideology of Master Choy.

Definitely a great man, a man whom I and all that know him will always respect.

Congratulations Grandmaster Choy IX.
